If Only Love is About the Wait

DIVA:
She looked out of her windows
a man standing in front of his house.
His cell phone on his ear,
talking to someone.
Eyes wandering elsewhere;
only his thoughts fixed on one thing.
Every word;
as if the pearls come out of it.
Touching her windows, he’s in love, she said.
So much in love, so that he becomes love itself;
Don’t go. Please stay there, the one in love.
Let me immerse in the sincerity of yours;
even the lies are embarrassed to be there.
But the beautiful sight
was gone in a millisecond
as he got into his car,
chasing his dream of the day.
If only love is about the wait,
she doesn’t know how long till she sees the next.

MANAGING DIRECTOR:
Never before a long meeting feels like a mass prayer
for him silently says amen to every word.
But deep inside,
remembering their last bet, he’s tallying
how often they miss each other.
Every two minutes, he said.
Maybe because it is called a sweetheart;
it pumps gently past the veins.
And love’s blood is the air
with the longings that go throughout the body.
If only love is about the wait,
he can’t bear to think how long will he see her again.

TRANSLATOR:
Documenting is her cup of tea.
Packed beneath the old files,
lies her book of love
from her long past nearly forgotten.
There from the year of 2003 to 2004,
some faded scribbles with the pencil.
She came across the passage from Jane Austen:
“There could have been no two hearts so open;
no tastes so similar;
no feelings so in unison.”
Closed the book and brought it to her chest,
tears coming down her face.
If only love is about the wait,
she doesn’t know when this will happen twice.

    I really like the imagery in this poem and the repeating final lines add to the power of the poem…very nicely done.
